Iris Tanaka
Japanese-American artist working at the intersection of sound, video, and sculptural installation. Tanaka's practice considers listening as a political act, treating the gallery as a chamber for slowed-down attention. Her installations integrate field recordings, glass and brass forms, and ambient light to compose what the artist calls "weather rooms" — temporary climates of perception.
Tanaka has exhibited internationally, including projects at the Tokyo Wonder Site, Pioneer Works (New York), and the Aichi Triennale. She lives and works between Kyoto and New York.
